LINUX Systems Administrator/Oracle DBO - Auckland

We are responsible for the IT operation of a client that has one of the most recognised and admired brand names in New Zealand. Our environment includes 1,200+ workstations, VOIP phone installation, 200+ servers located in two major data, storage-area-networks (SAN) and 20+ customer sites connected through a state-of-the-art wide-area-network.

For our 25+ RedHat server environment that is hosting the most critical client applications on an Oracle RDBMS platform we are looking for an experienced LINUX System Administrator who can also act as an Oracle DBO with ambitions to eventually move into a DBA role, or an Oracle DBA who also likes doing LINUX systems administration work. The work involves general systems management and housekeeping to ensure our environment operates according to our service level agreements, but also a constant stream of business enhancement and infrastructure projects in support of our clients business strategy.

We use a sophisticated CA Unicentre environment for Infrastructure & Operations Management and IT Service & Asset Management as well as ARCserve for backup management. Previous exposure to such environments would be a plus as would ITIL experience. But basically we want someone who is smart, clear-headed, and enjoys working with others to achieve common SLA targets. Someone who can proactively manage systems, always looking for improvement opportunities.
You’ll get variety and exposure to new situations to enhance your skills and career options, and benefit from our ongoing involvement in a variety of technologies.
The role offers challenging engagements, latest tools and technology, opportunities for initiative and learning, and plenty of career options - as you’d expect from a systems integration, outsourcing and development shop with1,350 professionals in NZ and another 1,700 overseas. And you will work for a company that operates the most sophisticated and most state-of-the-art data centre in NZ and recently won the Mediaweb Best Growth Strategy in 2009 award.

We pay well, including medical/life/income insurance, provide excellent tools, and otherwise let people get on with the job.
